Action: Use job seeking as an opportunity to influence from within and commit to climate change.
Why is this important?
There are nearly 10 million job openings and 8.6 million people seeking jobs in the US. Climate change is going to have a dramatic impact on many industries from finance to health which will affect the job market and career paths.
Employers are listening:
Introduction to ESG highlights an increase in the availability of funds to investors for environmental, social and governance (ESG) to $20.6 billion in 2019. This amount more than doubled to $51 billion in 2020. Regulators and other stakeholders are also paying closer attention, and the impact of ESG on company performance is becoming more clear.
Ways to take action:
- Find a job in a climate-conscious organization.
- Put pressure on other companies to be more sustainable.
- Let your employer know that climate is important to you. It will be easier for you to make change from within.
